MOUTH SHRUG

The corners of the mouth pull down and outward briefly, sometimes with a slight chin push.

MEANS

“I don’t know,” “I have no opinion,” or “I am not committed to what I just said.”

CONTEXT

A non-verbal disclaimer. Often appears at the end of a statement the speaker is not fully behind. A useful signal that someone’s words and conviction are mismatched.

NOT

A frown, which pulls the brow as well as the mouth.
