DIRECT FACING
Two people stand or sit facing each other squarely, bodies aligned, eyes level.
Confrontation, intimacy, or formal address — depending on distance and context.
Close direct facing with eye contact is intimate or hostile. Direct facing at conversational distance is formal. Mid-conversation direct facing is intense. Most relaxed conversation takes place at a slight angle, not head-on. A sudden shift to direct facing changes the temperature.
