OBJECT GRIP
An object — a pen, a phone, a cup — held more tightly than required to hold it.
Stress channelled into the hand. The object becomes a substitute for self-soothing.
Particularly visible with pens, which are gripped at the writing end rather than the middle. The grip tightens during difficult questions and loosens during comfortable ones. A useful subtle indicator in interviews.
A simple firm grip on a heavy or slippery object.
